No more power in your final drive?

We know how annoying it is when the final drive lack power. But what can be the reason? We will tell you here below 5 different reasons.

1: The most common failure is lack of hydraulic pressure. When the final drive is used, its more likely to become worned out. Which means there will be lack of hydraulic pressure. You can always ask the supplier, where you bought the final drive, of what the pressure should be in your travel motor. If the final drives still have the correct pressure, then the problem is not the final drive.

2:  Lack of power can also be caused by high friction. If the sufface is very hard, the final drive will have harder to give out the same amount of power. This is often not a problem caused by the final drive, but inside the undercarrige. So solution to this can be to change parts from undercarriage like rollers or idler.

3: The machine can have problem by climbing or driving straight out of a plain road. This is often becuase the speed control system in the machine is set to high speed mode. The final drive have more speed in 2-speed, but you will find a better torque in the 1-gear. This is not a problem caused by the track motor, but the control system.

4: If your final drive makes high noices, and you have problem with lack of power, its properly the charge pump which is broken. The travel motor requires a minimum pressure just to start, and disengage the internal brakes. If the internal brakes does not release, it means the final drive, drives with the emergency brake on. Even tough this is not caused by the final drive, the final drive will be damaged very quickly after noice starting.

5: The reduction. The reduction is a very sensitive part of the complete unit. If reduction has a damage, the final drive will stop very quickly. 9/10 Final drive will be changed because of the reduction is broken. You can prevent this reduction failure by making a service on your drives every 100 hours. Remember to change filters and transmission oil, and then your final drive will live longer.

We hope this can help you understand, why a final drive react, like it does.
